After many years as an interior designer for architectural firms in New Zealand, my family and I embarked on a journey living abroad - first stop Vietnam.
We were lucky enough to live and work in Saigon for three amazing years, but an opportunity in the Middle East saw us packing up again and moving to Dubai.
Our incredible experiences in these countries have influenced and ignited my love of design. Drawing inspiration from my surroundings,
I spent my days exploring, sourcing and creating - and decided I wanted to share this passion with others.
And so Fringe Society was born, a small design studio now based in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Fringe Society is about creating a home, wherever you may be. As expats we often find ourselves living on 'the fringe' of societies around the world. Immersed in different cultures and beliefs, day-to-day life can be unpredictable and challenging, which is why our home becomes our haven.
Drawing on my love of natural materials, textures and tones, I find inspiration in the contrasts of my surroundings: raw & luxe | natural & manmade | bold & subtle.
I'm passionate about supporting local industry - outsourcing delicate hand stitching and detailing work to local craftspeople,
and my desire to minimise waste sees me using all parts of the textiles wherever possible.
I'd love you to join me on my journey of continuous discovery and interpretation.
